Navigate to parkingCome on a weekday morning - the park will be almost empty. Head to the 'El Lago' and 'La Escombrera' viewpoints for the best views of Puerto and Teide. Weekends can be very crowded.
La Matanza de Acentejo owes its name to the 1494 battle in which the Guanches inflicted a devastating defeat on the Castilian conquerors. El Montillo park, one of the largest in the Canary archipelago at 57,000 m², was a municipal project that took 10 years to build (2009-2019). It features over 410 plant species including Canary pines and endemic species.
