LM Arte Colección

Rooms arranged like a home -the kitchen holds still lifes, the oratory sacred art. Worth stepping in just to see the restored mansion courtyard. On La Carrera, so you'll walk right past it.

LM Arte Colección is La Laguna's best-kept secret. Opened in December 2021, this private museum was born from the passion of Luz Marina Lorenzo, a collector from La Palma who since the 1980s assembled nearly 600 pieces by over 140 artists. The venue is a carefully restored 18th-century Canarian mansion on La Carrera street. What makes it unique is its concept: rooms are arranged like spaces in a home - still lifes hang in 'the kitchen', religious art in 'the oratory', nature in 'the garden'. Among the signatures: Óscar Domínguez, Manolo Millares, César Manrique, Martín Chirino, Cristino de Vera, Lola Massieu, plus international names like Dokoupil and Richard Mosse. Member of the Canary Islands Museum Network.

Insider tip

You'll pass it while walking La Carrera - step in even just to see the 18th-century mansion's courtyard. The themed rooms are a brilliant idea: look for still lifes in 'the kitchen' and Óscar Domínguez works scattered throughout. There's a museum shop with catalogs and local art.

History

The collection began in the 1980s with Luz Marina Lorenzo Calero, from El Paso (La Palma), long resident in La Laguna. What started as modest gallery purchases grew to nearly 600 works by 140+ artists. In 2017 the comprehensive restoration of the 18th-century mansion began, and the museum opened on December 23, 2021. In 2024 it joined the Canary Islands Museum Network.

Suggested route

PARKIA → Plaza del Adelantado → La Carrera → LM Arte Colección → Teatro Leal → continue to Church of La Concepción → Casa Lercaro → Cathedral → tapas.
